COLUMBUS NAMED NEW ENTREPRENEURSHIP DIRECTOR |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Dr. Craig Columbus has been named the new executive director of the entrepreneurship program and chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship at Grove City College.
Columbus is a former senior executive with a 15-year track record of success across the asset management, financial information, venture capital, digital media and broadcasting industries. A highly successful entrepreneur, Columbus has guided two start-ups from incubation to large-entity acquisition and integration.
“To have an entrepreneur as motivated, successful and ambitious as Craig Columbus is a wonderful asset to Grove City College,” said College President Dr. Richard G. Jewell ’67. “We know our students will benefit from his wisdom and experience, which will help them to go out into the world and create change through their entrepreneurial endeavors.”
Columbus returns to his native western Pennsylvania after 20 years, living primarily in Scottsdale, Ariz. He is looking forward to helping students discover entrepreneurship as a spiritual vocation.
He brings to Grove City College hands-on experience across each of the major branches of entrepreneurial study. Columbus has been deeply involved in the capital markets as a global macro strategist and fund manager. In this capacity, he has been a popular figure on CNBC television, appearing regularly on shows such “Power Lunch,” the “Morning Call,” and “Kudlow and Company.” He is a frequent commentator on political economy, regulatory and public policy issues.
He has extensive experience in new venture creation, acting in a variety of capacities including founder, early employee and angel investor, primarily in the new media space. In these roles, he has been closely involved in the capital raising and acquisition process as well as the protection of intellectual property. Columbus has also engaged in “intrapreneurship,” founding and leading a financial information software startup within a large public corporation. Columbus also carries a deep personal commitment to social entrepreneurship. He and his wife co-founded Ethos School, a non-profit day school in Scottsdale, Ariz., for high-functioning autism spectrum children, employing a unique discovery learning approach.
A graduate of Loyola University of Chicago, Columbus holds an M.B.A. from Penn State University and a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University (admitted to the Pennsylvania bar). He is an avid football, baseball and English Premier League soccer fan and enjoys playing chess.
The Grove City College entrepreneurship program aims to prepare undergraduate men and women of Christian character to be global leaders of influence and social transformation through entrepreneurial education in both business and service.
