spacer COLLEGE TO PERFORM IBSEN PLAY AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE
spacer
February 24, 2010

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Henrik Ibsen play “An Enemy of the People” comes to life on the Grove City College main stage March 11-13 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. Performances are 7:30 p.m. daily. Tickets are required but free of charge.

Written in 1882, “An Enemy of the People” seeks to critique the press, rationale of the masses and the hidden agenda of politicians. The play follows protagonist Dr. Thomas Stockmann, played by senior George Hampe of New Brighton, Pa., as he strives to discover the answers to society’s most morally complex questions. The cast also includes: wife Katherine Stockmann, played by sophomore Ashley Herreid of The Woodlands, Texas; daughter Petra Stockmann, who is played by junior Rebecca Sherman of Avon Lake, Ohio; senior Jordan Benis of Jersey Shore, Pa., who plays editor Hovstad; and senior Kevin Gaul of Stow, Ohio, who plays newspaper printer Aslaksen.

Betsy Craig, assistant professor of English and theater, will direct the production. Under Craig’s direction, a production of David Hirson’s “La Bête” earned top billing and national recognition at the 2009 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

Tickets may be reserved by calling (724) 458-3331 or by e-mailing theatertickets@gcc.edu. Be sure to specify a date and time desired. Doors open at 7 p.m.; tickets reserve seats until 7:15 p.m.
