GROVE CITY, Pa. – For the 12th year, Grove City College is hosting the National Federation of Music Clubs Regional Music Festival beginning at 9 a.m. on March 19 in the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus.
The all-day festival provides an opportunity for nearly 300 music students in kindergarten through 12th grade to perform for a panel of professional musicians. Each student will receive a rating and written evaluation based on his or her performance.
In addition to the solo division, students may perform hymns, patriotic songs, duets and concertos, as well as take a music theory examination.
Forty music teachers from the Pittsburgh area will serve as judges, assisted by 35 Grove City College student volunteers. The festival will be led by Dr. Beverly Carter, professor of music, who also serves on the regional board of the Pennsylvania Federation of Music Clubs.
The National Federation of Music Clubs is one of the world’s largest music organizations with club and individual members of all ages. The NFMC is chartered by the Congress of the United States and is the only music organization member of the United Nations. To learn more about the NFMC, visit www.nfmc-music.org.
