COLLEGE STUDENTS EARN HIGH MARKS ON CPA EXAM |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College students received a No. 3 ranking in Pennsylvania in the 2010 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). The College is among approximately 65 college and universities throughout the state that offer accounting programs.
Grove City College’s overall pass rate on the exam was roughly 20 percentage points above the national average. The College ranked at the top alongside the University of Pennsylvania and Carnegie Mellon University.
“Our rigorous accounting program is comprehensive in nature and provides students not only with solid preparation for the CPA Exam, but also with the necessary tools to help them transition into their professional careers,” said Dr. David Baglia, chair of the department of accounting and professor of accounting. “These results are indicative of our outstanding graduates who are hard-working and dedicated to achieving their goals.”
The exam is designed to assess the knowledge and skills of entry-level certified public accountants need to practice public accountancy. The successful completion of the exam is required in all 55 jurisdictions. The exam is a 14-hour, computer-based test that included sections examining auditing and attestation; business environment and concepts; financial accounting and reporting; and regulation.
