COLLEGE MUSIC PROFESSOR NAMED TEACHER OF THE YEAR |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Dr. Joseph M. Pisano ’94, assistant chair of the department of music and fine arts and associate professor of music and fine arts technology at Grove City College, has been selected to receive the 2011 Technology Institute of Music Educators (TI:ME) Mike Kovins Teacher of the Year Award. The award will be presented at the annual TI:ME conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, later this month.
Educators eligible for the annual award must have at least three years of professional teaching experience or research in music technology and must currently be teaching K-12, collegiate or adult students.
At the College, Pisano teaches courses in music technology, jazz history, instrumental conducting and serves as associate director of bands. Abroad, he is an instrumental conductor, adjudicator, jazz trumpet player and fine arts advocate.
A founder of many popular music, education and technology websites, such as MusTech.net and MusicPLN.org, Pisano serves as a SoundTree clinician; TI:ME instructor; affiliate member of the Support Music coalition; writes the “Teacher Guide” for IN-Tune Monthly and will be the Music Education and Technology conference keynote speaker, held in Michigan later this year.
The Technology Institute for Music Educators is a non-profit corporation seeking to assist music educators in applying technology to improve teaching and learning in music.
