GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College and the Central Blood Bank will host a winter blood drive on Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Intramural Rooms of the Physical Learning Center.
Appointments can be scheduled by logging onto www.centralbloodbank.org and entering sponsor code CU11 or by contacting Amy Pagano of the Zerbe Health Center at AEPagano@gcc.edu. Refreshments will be provided to all presenting donors by Bon Appétit.
Donors must bring proper identification in order to donate blood. A Central Blood Bank or military ID, passport or driver’s license are all accepted forms of ID. Birth certificates along with a photo ID that includes the donor’s full name will also be accepted.
Since the Central Blood Bank’s establishment in 1951, the geographic region serviced by the private, not-for-profit organization has expanded from metropolitan Pittsburgh to 10 counties in western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio. Central Blood Bank seeks to engage the blood donor community, advance transfusion science and assist patients with their clinical expertise.
Blood donations can potentially aid in providing plasma for burn victims and blood for patients undergoing heart surgery, organ transplants, childbirth complications and a variety other conditions.
