GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College has been awarded funding to help develop information-sharing events for donor relations professionals in western Pennsylvania. The funding comes from the inaugural Council for Advancement and Support of Education District II Board’s Venture Capital Fund. Awards totaling $10,000 will be made to nine institutions for new programs for advancement professionals and institutions in District II.
Sixteen applications were submitted for funding, representing more than $30,000 in requests. The District II board had authorized $10,000 in grants, so the competition was fierce. Grove City College’s donor relations program, under the leadership of Director of Donor Services Roxann Williams, was awarded $1,000.
According to CASE representatives, “We tried to fund proposals that would have an impact on some groups within District II that are not as well-served by the annual District conference, including community colleges, corporate/foundation and advancement services professionals. We also provided funding for what we see as an important study of staff recruitment, development and compensation practices that will be coordinated by Marywood University. Many District II members cite staff recruitment and retention as one of their most vexing problems and we are looking forward to sharing the results of this project with District II members.”
Other recipients include Carnegie Mellon University, University at Buffalo, Towson University, Nazareth College, Saint Vincent College, Marywood University, Kingsborough Community College and Harrisburg Area Community College.
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education District II covers Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and West Virginia.
