GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College has been selected as one of 88 Pittsburgh 250 Grassroots Community Connections Projects supporting the broad theme of “Pride & Progress.”
Neighborhoods, communities, civic organizations and individuals throughout the 14-county region of southwestern Pennsylvania submitted 540 project proposals to help celebrate the region’s 250th anniversary in 2008.
The award will support start-up costs for the student philanthropy project at Grove City College slated to begin in fall 2008. The student philanthropy project will help students learn how to be engaged citizens and to understand the important role philanthropy plays in the health of local communities.
Funds will be provided for students to invest in the community, enabling faculty to use student philanthropy as a community-based learning pedagogy.
