COLLEGE ORCHESTRA TO PRESENT SPRING CONCERT |

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Orchestra will present its spring concert April 23 at 8 p.m. in Ketler Auditorium in the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. The program will feature the three winning soloists of this year’s Concerto Competition held in January.
The concert soloists include junior Monica Dudek of Ford City, Pa.; junior Katie Lear of Perkasie, Pa.; and freshman Daniel Eby of Aloha, Ore. Dudek will sing “Quel guardo, il cavaliere,” from Gaetano Donizetti’s opera “Don Pasquale.” Lear will present the first movement of the Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2 in C-minor.” Eby will perform the third movement of Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Cello Concerto No.1.”
Student conductor Abigail Huffman will lead the orchestra in the tone poem by Jean Sibelius, “Finlandia.”
The Grove City College String Chamber Orchestra will present “Sinfonia” by Antonio Vivaldi.
The full orchestra, led by Dr. Richard Konzen, professor of music, will open the program with the “Egmont Overture” by Ludwig van Beethoven and close the concert with “La Valse” by Maurice Ravel.
