GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College Assistant Professor of Business Scott K. Powell completed all requirements of the Doctor of Business Administration program at Anderson University’s Falls School of Business and received his D.B.A. degree earlier this summer.
Powell’s research involved more than 1,000 students from nine colleges and universities across the United States and investigated purchase likelihood of Christian products and the motivation behind such purchases. The products included in the research were books, music, apparel, jewelry and other items that feature biblical messages or symbols.
Findings from Powell’s study, “True Colors or Chameleons: Materialism, Well-being, Religious Orientation and the Purchase of Christian Products,” suggested broader application to other products that evoke intense commitment, such as “green,” cause-related and sports-themed products.
Powell has been a professor at Grove City College since 1991.
