GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College Professor of Communication Studies Dr. Daniel S. Brown Jr. received an APEX 2010 award for his work with the newsletter of the Religious Communication Association, “The RCA NEWS,” in early July. The award was presented in the “Most Improved Newsletter” category.
The Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) program, now in its 22nd year, is considered one of the most prestigious associations for professional communicators. The awards, an annual competition for writers, editors, publications staff and business and nonprofit communicators, were based on graphic design, editorial content and the success of an entry achieving overall communication effectiveness and excellence.
The newsletter, which Brown has edited since 2008, has been in publication for 34 years. In that time, the newsletter has evolved into a quality means of communication for individuals conducting world-class research and teaching.
With more than 3,711 entries submitted in the competition, the newsletter was one of only 20 newsletters to receive the “Most Improved Newsletter” designation.
The Religious Communication Association is an academic society founded in 1973 by people interested in the study of all aspects of public religious communication. As an interfaith scholarly and professional organization, the society seeks to promote honest, respectful and profound dialogue that reflects the diversity of religious beliefs, subject matter concerns, methodologies and professions of its members
