October 21, 2011
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College alumnus and author Jim Kristofic ’04 will present on his experiences and the traditional folktales he learned while living on a Navajo reservation at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Great Room of the Breen Student Union on campus. The event is free and open to the public.
As a child, Kristofic and his family moved from Pittsburgh to Ganado, Ariz., where his mother accepted a position at a hospital on the Navajo Reservation. In Kristofic’s memoir, “Navajos Wear Nikes,” a publication of University of New Mexico Press, he dives into the complexity of modern life on the reservation and later expresses the struggle of readapting to a world outside the reservation that no longer feels like home.
For more information about the presentation, contact Dr. Eric Potter, professor of English, at eapotter@gcc.edu.
