In response to the October 2007 "Moment for Grove City College," alumni share additional memories of "Things That Aren't Here Anymore."

The Cave. Many Grovers may not be aware of what this was. It was where I lived during my freshman year (1985-86). It was in the basement of Carnegie Hall at the edge of campus. Twelve freshman and our RA (the late Brian Downs) met the challenge of participating in college life while being isolated from campus. It was a rather cold and wet year as I recall. The trek to the Saturday 8AM Creative Dimension of Life class was well something that today's Grover should be thankful is not there anymore.
You would think with all that walking (I probably made the trek three to five times each day) that the Freshman 15 wouldn't have been an issue but with our proximity to Pizza House, Pizza Villa, Sheetz and Mr Donut (all of which aren't there anymore) didn't help keep the 15 away.
We feuded with our landlords at time (the Air Force ROTC--also not there anymore), cursed the repeated ringing of the church bells on Sunday morning, fought with each other given our close quarters but I for one was glad for the experience.
