The Alumni Shadowing Event is a program that provides current students with the opportunity to shadow past GCC graduates in their current work environment.  Career Services links the professionals with each students' career interests.

The objectives of the program are to:

• Encourage the student’s career development process
• Promote an understanding of an actual workplace environment
• Encourage students to have a realistic view of the world of work and their field/discipline
• Establish experiential learning opportunities
• Promote a forum for discussion between a professional in the field and the student
• Emphasize the importance of transferable skills as they relate to particular careers
• Demonstrate the connection between academics and careers, exciting students to learn by making their classwork more relevant
• Introduce students to the requirements of professions and industries to help them prepare to join the workforce for the 21st Century 
• Foster an ongoing relationship between young people and caring alumni.
