GROVE CITY, Pa. – Maj. Gen. William A. Chambers, director of communications in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, will speak at 7 p.m. April 3 in Sticht Lecture Hall of the Hall of Arts and Letters. Chambers’ topic, “America’s Air Force in the Twenty-First Century,” will detail the role of air power in the global war with Islamic Jihadists, as well as how the U.S. Air Force will meet the many other challenges facing it in the years ahead.
Chambers, whose daughter, Emily, is a sophomore English-secondary education major at Grove City College, is responsible to the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force for strategic communications and an increased understanding of the Air Force. Chambers is a 1978 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and a master navigator whose flying experiences include tours in the KC-135 refueling aircraft and the highly sophisticated FB-111 fighter-bomber.
Prior to assuming his position on the staff of the Secretary of the Air Force last May, Chambers served as Deputy Commanding General, Combined Forces Command, Afghanistan and then as commander of the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.
His talk is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
