The mission of the Department of Accounting is to provide a quality education within a framework of Christian principles that serves to prepare students for a lifetime of learning and, more specifically, for careers in public accounting, corporate accounting, and the non-profit sector.  The accounting program has a long tradition of academic excellence as evidenced in part by its outstanding placement record and student passing rates on the Certified Public Accountant [CPA] examination.  The department is located on the third floor of the Hall of Arts & Letters.  This facility opened in January 2003 and contains state-of-the-art classrooms and many other modern amenities.

CURRICULA

The comprehensive accounting program requires a minimum of 30 credit hours of coursework in areas including financial accounting and reporting, managerial accounting, accounting information systems, auditing, taxation, government and non-profit, and forensic accounting.  A field experience is also required.  Most students satisfy their field experience by completing an accounting internship in the summer following their junior year of study.  Completion of the B.S. in Accounting degree at Grove City College will allow students to sit for the CPA examination in Pennsylvania and other states that do not currently require 150 hours of college credit for licensing purposes [additional summer coursework may be necessary in states with a 150-hour requirement].
